Day 203: Why do Teens Lie to Their Parents?
http://humanitysjourneytolife.blogspot. ... their.html
When I was a teenager I'd stay out late and lie about it. I would sneak out of the house in the middle of the night to hang out with friends that I wasn't allowed to because 'they were a bad influence'. I drank and did drugs. And I lied bout it all obviously because if I didn't, I would have been punished. And I wanted to try/do all these things because there were many examples in my life that was saying these things were apparently what you want to do as a teenager. My mom would say those things are bad, you're not allowed to do them, but I wouldn't listen because I didn't trust her, because she would get emotional and judgmental and that obviously doesn't look like a sound supportive being who I could trust for practical advice. She just didn't have the effective understanding and vocabulary to effectively express things to me, like an equal talking to another equal who is new to the world and giving practical support of how this world operates and how consequence works in reality. She wasn't trained to be a parent because we don't have effective training in parenting for everyone.
There is the tendency to want to 'hide' what is wrong with ourselves/the world from children when they're very little, or to not talk about such 'negative' things, in order to allow children to have as a 'good' a time as possible, and then what happens is they don't have any practical idea of the dangers out there or the consequences we can create for ourselves.
What we also tend to do is to 'create consequences' for children, which are then like 'fake' consequences, things like taking away the things they like to do like use their phone or the internet or the tv, but these so-called consequences are consequences that we did unto them, they are not the Actual consequences that would result from their behavior. So when we do this they are not learning about what their actual consequences of their actions are, they are only learning that if/when they are 'caught', by you, doing certain things, that then You will do something to them, or take something from them. So then what happens is you get in the way of them learning about actual consequence, because they are only now learning what you might do to them.
So the child actually has, from that perspective, very common sensical reason to lie to you – to avoid your punishment. So to tell the child not to lie to you, or it's not right to lie, is like, rather pointless because they found a benefit to lying, which was to get themselves out of punishment and get to do what they think they want to do, sometimes. So to say there is consequence to lying to you isn't going to make much sense, because to the child it will seem there is more consequence in not lying to you. Also, in the way the world is, one may find it necessary to lie in some circumstances. Because we as human beings are not yet trustworthy enough with each other to be able to just be honest all with everything. So, you don't want to form a morality toward lying as being right/wrong / good/bad. It is preferable to not lie of course.
So things like taking tv away or 'being grounded' for example, are actually 'punishments'. They are not the natural actual consequences that would result from what they are doing. Like for example, if you stay up late a lot it can affect the development of your body and lead to issues down the road, as the body depletes itself from not getting the rest it needs to rebuild itself from the day's living. Not – if you stay up late you will be grounded. That doesn't make sense. That doesn't give any practical understanding of the consequence they would create for themselves by not sleeping properly, that is the consequence You will create because You want them to sleep and not stay out late, so then it is about what You Want and not about what is Best for Themself.
As parents we have a tendency to attempt to control, because we don't believe anything else will work. We don't believe that a child would respond to common sense, because we haven't aligned ourself with common sense yet. So we think we have to 'put a foot down' and take control. So you're essentially demanding that they comply, and that is very unlikely to have a positive result. What it's going to look like to the child is that You want something of/from them, You wanting to control them/their behavior to the result You want. They are not going to see it as trying to prevent them from experiencing consequences in reality, as what is best for Them. Because that is in fact essentially what it is, it is wanting/demanding/expecting certain behavior from the child. That is in essence wanting to control another being, and most beings are not going to respond well to being controlled. I certainly didn't, if you have had experiences in your life where another was trying to control you, you can check what effect that had/how did you respond to that.
So we've got a ways to go in correcting ourselves, and the children are going to suffer through that, as did we also as children, but we'll walk ourselves out of this step by step until it's done, and we can challenge ourselves to make it as fun as we can, by not making things personal/judging. We have now the tools and just have to walk it, educate ourselves to become practical beings grounded here in reality.
An important point within this, is to look at everything from the perspective of what am I living, instead of what I'm expecting another to live for/toward me. And checking all points that come up, like if I am mad at them for lying – how/when/where do I or have I lied? Or if they aren't respecting me - how/where have I not been respectful? Where respect would mean treating another as my equal. There is the tendency to place all these expectations on another, without focusing on ourselves and our own living and behaviors.
And we need to educate ourselves on the actual consequences so we can effectively explain them - not the consequences we would create for them ourself. Give the child the common sense, so they can reason for themselves what is the best course of action. And if they make a mistake – do not judge them. And realize, they have not hurt you, they only hurt themselves. When we make it about me and what They're doing to Me, then it is about control and manipulation and enslavement instead of allowing a being their individual life and learning process. It is like the 'you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink'. We can show the children where the water is, but we can't make them drink it. And the more we would try to force them to the more they would resist, because then it looks like we have some personal agenda or investment in it, and it is going to seem fishy. You've got to give the child their space to choose. Trust in a relationship is indeed something that is built, but you have to give trust at first for it to even be possible for trust to emerge. You have to trust the being, not to act how you want them to, but trust the being to hear common sense, and to understand the choices they face is always to do what is best for them or what is not. Maybe they will, and maybe they won't. But it must be up to the individual if we're to live as truly equals.

Day 204: Is Cheaper Always Better? Is There Any Consequence To Cheap Prices?
http://humanitysjourneytolife.blogspot. ... er-is.html
We’ve got an obsession with cheap prices, and it’s so ingrained in, we seem to hardly even be aware of it. But Walmart is an perfect example of this – where the whole premise is (supposed to be) cheap prices. I say supposed to be, because not all the prices are cheap, other items that we might not notice, are hiked up to essentially make up for the difference of the other products which are cheaper.
In this article about the ‘google glass’, 'Could Google Glass revive the high street? One third of Britons say they would use it to hunt for bargains (but admit they'd be embarrassed to wear it)', individuals said they would mostly use it to compare prices while shopping. To see if the product they’re looking to buy isn’t available cheaper somewhere else. Which is interesting that it’s never questioned – but how is it possible? To have the exact same product be different prices? What changed?
And this article about Amazon.com, 'Amazon accused of bullying small firms and inflating prices - the truth about the world's biggest retailer' exposes that Amazon’s prices aren’t always the cheapest, and showing the price wars that have occurred where companies will adopt price matching policies. Which again it’s not questioned why aren’t prices made the same in the first place? Stores were implementing these price matching or even undercutting methods, in order to get more customers to buy from their stores rather than just using their store as essentially a showroom to test out what they’ll buy for cheaper online.
This article, 'How “discounts” trick shoppers into buying stuff' exposes more how 'sales' and 'discount prices' aren't always what they seem and are used to manipulate individuals into buying more.
Basically, we’ve accepted the idea that ‘we want cheap prices’. And this seems to make sense because, for the majority of us, we have low wages. Wages that don’t afford us to be able to buy all the things that make life livable and comfortable and worthwhile. And therefore, we think we need to find everything as cheap as we possibly can.
However, we haven’t been looking at the big picture – what does all these low prices mean? Can we have low prices but have quality products as well? These products being sold for so cheap – how much do the workers that supply the labor get paid? Do they get paid less if the prices are marked down?
The thing is – by always seeking the cheap prices, we put companies in a position where they have to continuously compete to have the cheapest prices, and what this means is the sacrifice of the quality of the product, and also a cheapening of the labor, which means workers having to do more for less, and if you’ll notice, that is exactly what is going on at large, where jobs are paying less and less, despite inflation going up. Even though many wages have simply remained stagnant, you can actually say they have lowered, because there are less higher paying jobs available and more lower paying jobs, so overall you can say the wages have in fact lowered. And that is just here in the U.S. This is the same also abroad in many countries that have don’t even have the very limited protection of the labor laws that exists currently in the U.S, (which really don't afford much and are mostly to protect the interest of employers anyway).
What you see happening in the most abundant jobs which is for example retail and food service jobs that make up a high percentage of the bulk of jobs in the U.S., is that they are purposely understaffed as much as possible, which means that the employees that are there must work even harder, though this does not mean any increase in their remuneration.
So you have to work harder, for less, and the result is that as inflation goes up and wages stagnate or drop, you can buy less and less. And so you want the products to be cheaper and cheaper and cheaper and it will never end, because they can never be cheap enough, but the products become cheaper and cheaper, which means less effective, and so as your wages go down, so you can afford less, the quality of that which you can afford goes down and down, so we are now buying things that break very fast and must be replaced on a constant and regular basis. While, if you are one of the few who could afford much higher priced higher quality items, the items will last much longer and you will have to replace it much less, and in the end those with the money will have actually spent less, than those who must buy the cheaper inferior products and replace them over and over.
So you can see the vicious cycle that is in play – the more we want cheaper products, the more our wages and the value of our labor goes down, and therefore, the less we can afford to buy, and products have to get even cheaper, and even more degraded, which then devalues our labor even more, so – when would this end? Obviously you could see that it does not end. Until that is, when we reach the point that the products would become so inferior and we would be so poor that we would not bother to buy them, and then businesses will collapse, there’ll really be no jobs, and essentially the economy would have tanked.
Boy, who wants to live in that reality? Many already do today in countries whose economies have crashed, and those of us who have paid attention and noticed that and read the news stories to see what that would be like, know – we do not want to go down that road.
So, we’ve got to realize the ‘bigger-picture’, in the consequence we’re causing for ourselves by so extensively sticking to this ‘cheaper is better’ idea, because it is not actually so. Our quality of life goes down, the quality of the products we can buy goes down, and it’s a viscous cycle down and down.
The way to get ourself out of this cycle is to have pricing required to be structured in such a way that all points of a products creation, as the labor that has gone into making it in all aspects of production, is properly accounted for, meaning that it is sufficient to cover costs and provide all labor involved adequate compensation enough to be able to afford a dignified and proper living, which means being able to afford quality products. To ensure effective pricing, the pricing should be disclosed as to what exactly is included in the price and how much, so that it is transparent and therefore easy for all to see exactly what we're paying for, and that effective remuneration is happening.
And this would lead to the result of all products being of the best quality, rather than of cheaper and cheaper quality, because we’ll be able to afford better quality, so we won’t put pressure on companies to be the cheapest, we can instead focus on the quality of products, and therefore the quality of our lives.

Day 205: Is The U.S. Bat Shit Crazy?
http://humanitysjourneytolife.blogspot. ... crazy.html
While reading a recent article “This is how you destroy a chemical weapon” (which you can read here: http://qz.com/124968/this-is-how-you-de ... al-weapon/) I learned that the U.S. has an incineration facility for the destruction of chemical weapons located on a small remote island in the Pacific Ocean, called the Johnston Atoll.
While doing some research on the island to find out more about it and its history, I learned that the island was claimed for the U.S. By William Parker and R.F. Ryan in 1858 under the “Guano Islands Act”. Now, I said to myself, but, guano is bat poop, isn't it?...
So, I researched what is this Guano Islands Act. This is what I read about the Guano Islands Act courtesy of Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guano_Islands_Act):
“The Guano Islands Act (11 Stat. 119, enacted 18 August 1856, codified at 48 U.S.C. ch. 8 §§ 1411-1419) is federal legislation passed by the U.S. Congress that enables citizens of the U.S. to take possession of islands containing guano deposits. The islands can be located anywhere, so long as they are not occupied and not within the jurisdiction of other governments. It also empowers the President of the United States to use the military to protect such interests and establishes the criminal jurisdiction of the United States.
Whenever any citizen of the United States discovers a deposit of guano on any island, rock, or key, not within the lawful jurisdiction of any other Government, and not occupied by the citizens of any other Government, and takes peaceable possession thereof, and occupies the same, such island, rock, or key may, at the discretion of the President, be considered as appertaining to the United States.
—first section of Guano Islands Act”
Also from the same Wiki page:
"More than 100 islands have been claimed for the U.S. under the Guano Islands Act. Most are no longer considered United States territory"
Essentially, the U.S. valued guano to use for its own purposes, and when finding out that there were little islands rich with it, made up a rule that any island which had bat droppings on it and wasn't already claimed or inhabited by someone from another government, could be claimed by anyone for the U.S. And then once the U.S. had used up all the guano, it had no responsibility toward the island whatsoever. In this, there is no consideration or regard for the environment and habitat and our relationship to it and what effect our actions would have, to ensure that we are not creating any consequences. Essentially, a Love 'em and Leave 'em relationship.
This is quite a reflection of how we treat our planet as a whole. We take what we want and have no intention of a long term relationship, apparently ignorant of the fact that there would be no ‘leaving’ because we depend on the Earth for our very lives, and as the results of space travel shows, life outside of the Earth is extremely high maintenance where for example you would gradually lose bone density developing severe osteoporosis due to the lack of gravity, which our bodies have an integrated relationship with. So we can put to rest those fantasies of going somewhere else, because the vast majority of the population is not going anywhere.
What this also shows is how we have never acted according to what is in the interest of life here, but what was in our own apparent, shortsighted interest. We’ve got to realize we are ‘in it for the long haul’ and we’d better take care of what we have here, which the potential is really vast, if we were to be conducting ourselves in such a way that is in alignment with our ecosystem, supporting the very system which supports us, instead of taking it for granted in the decisions we make, where our decisions are aren’t looking at the big picture.
Our laws should be in the interest of our lives and well-being, and thus also the life and well-being of our planet and ecosystem, because to destroy and harm that, is to destroy and harm ourselves. It's time to get our priorities straight, before it's too late.

Day 206: Noam Chomsky and U.S. Exceptionalism
http://humanitysjourneytolife.blogspot. ... nd-us.html
Chomsky: US drone campaign is world's biggest terrorist action (EXCLUSIVE)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... oedvLjaIwM
In watching this recent interview with Noam Chomsky, he speaks about ‘exceptionalism’ and how every great power at some point claims exception for their deeds, for deeds which would not be acceptable or legal on a universal scale. Chomsky mentions a case involving the apprehension of an individual in Libya, and where the Secretary of State was asked in a press conference whether this was legal, and he stated that it’s legal; it’s in accord with American law. Chomsky points out that this obviously doesn’t mean that it is in accordance with international law. For example, obviously other countries are not going to have laws that state that the U.S. can come into another country and just take who they like.
How is it that we’ve come to accept this kind of duplicity or ‘double standard’ to take place at a governmental level? It’s because we have accepted it within ourselves; we live this at an individual level. We do this very same thing within our individual daily lives, where we justify our actions regardless of the fact that our actions weren’t in the actual consideration of what is best for everyone, and whether our actions are what would be acceptable if they were, for example, done to ourselves.
Basically, we’ve missed the boat on living according to the principle of Jesus’ message, which is to ‘do unto another as you’d have done unto you’. We have instead come up with all sorts of exceptions, excuses, justifications, reasons, as to why we apparently had to take some action the likes of which we would never want done to ourselves. And through this, we create enemies of each other, just like we do at the national scale as countries, as Chomsky points out as well, that our ‘justified’ drone strikes are busy creating lots of enemies.
No wonder the drone strike movement is taking place – it’s Great for business. Because it ensures a fresh and constant stream of enemies that we’ll always have to spend lots of money on defense systems to apparently protect ourselves from, despite the fact that most of the apparent ‘threats’ out there, really don’t pose any threat in comparison to the ‘might’ of the U.S., which is actually the current predominant ‘threat’ in the world, causing all sorts of terror, in the very name of a ‘war on terror’.
What it always comes down to is money, and the control of money, and therefore we are going to hear whatever excuse is necessary to justify continuing war and invasion and destruction of societies, to keep that business booming. But we as individuals have got to sort ourselves out, so that we can begin to recognize when we are hearing justifications, which means sorting out when we ourselves are using justifications to excuse our own behaviors.
What it comes down to is a practical re-education for ourselves, because we really have never lived in any other way other than only considering ourself and what is apparently best for ourself, and it’s always been a me vs. everyone else out there kind of situation. I mean, you can really see this within relationships such as friendships where despite the premise being that you’re in a relationship where you’re nice and friendly and look out for each other, there is often really a lot of nastiness that goes on behind others backs, usually within the idea that one is just ‘looking out for oneself’. You also see this in a lot of relationships between family members as well, where things can get really vindictive. There are some popular TV series out there that really exemplify our dysfunction in relationships.
The re-education point is where we realize that there is another way to exist, than me against everyone else. That if we don’t sort ourselves out, our relationships are only going to get more consequential, on the personal and global scale, which is already quite escalated. So, it’s not to judge and say how horrible or evil we are because we are nasty to each other, but rather to understand that when we’re only considering ourselves as if we’re the only ones that really exist, and applying a double standard, where we can excuse our actions, and yet expect another to not do the same, that this is consequential and is the very reason that we have ourselves entrenched still in wars and the extreme harm of each other and our environment. And, thus, that only considering ourselves is actually not ending up resulting in an outcome that is best for ourself after all, but is leading to a world of consequence where children are not safe to play in the streets, where you cannot trust one another, where we must have locks on our doors and our possessions, where you don’t want to be out late at night on city streets. I mean, why would we accept a world where it is not safe everywhere, in every single nook and cranny?
On that note, we’ll go up to here for this blog post, and continue in the next.
For those interesting in sorting oneself out, there is the Free DIP Lite course that offers a streamlined approach to the process with one-on-one assistance throughout the course.

Day 207: Our Education System Breeds Enemies
http://humanitysjourneytolife.blogspot. ... nd-us.html
This is a continuation from the previous post here.
What we must face and admit, is that when we are only thinking of ourselves and holding ourselves and our actions to different standards than we hold others, that if we can look at who we are within doing that, that we have essentially made ourself an enemy of who we are acting against. That within that, we are the criminal, because we have justified doing harm to another that we would not accept to be done to ourself by another, and thus we cause our own problems through our own disregard of each other.
This solution to inequality is simply not taught, because it’s not ‘good for business’ for those that would profit from the system the way it is, and thus why it is a point of self-education to correct the misinformation we are instilled with. I suggest to investigate the Living Income Guaranteed, which shows that there is another way we can do things here, which is based on the very principle of to ‘do unto another as you’d have done unto you’, or, in other words, to ‘give as you would like to receive’, which really means to break out of the misconception of considering oneself in opposition to all others, and to consider all beings as equal to you.
As Howard Zinn discusses in this interview Howard Zinn - Hidden History of The American Working Class how the education system actually presents this very one-sided picture of the U.S. where they take what has been a very violent and exploitative history (and still ongoing) and twists it into a pretty picture, where all the actions of the U.S. are apparently justified, and the actions of all other countries are unacceptable, even when it is the same or not even as extreme, as the very actions of the U.S. unto other countries. This education, which is reinforced by our media and Hollywood, is what predominantly shapes our lopsided value-system. Watch this fascinating documentary Hollywood and the war machine to see how Hollywood has been deliberately utilized as propaganda to drive wars.
I myself was a product of the disinformation of what we learn in the education system and how the media presents things, because it was all I knew at one point. And I never questioned it until I was faced with different sides of the story, for example if you would read The People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn, probably one of the most important history lessons you will ever have.
And I must say that although I practically never enjoyed the history classes I had in school, I loved reading this, because it was not meaningless and detached and full of holes like the history I learned in school, where history is simply not taught in a way that would typically engage a student, because you are essentially being told the way things are but given no real honest explanation, or for that matter, any consideration of the consequences of what we’ve done throughout our history. I mean history is quite commonly thought of as an extremely boring and annoying subject, and that works out quite well from those who would benefit from the mass of the population not knowing really anything about history or having any interest in it whatsoever, because that is how you can get away with using the same control tactics again and again. I mean, if no one remembers what happened before, we won’t be watching out for it again, and that’s how we fall for the same old stories and ideas that become the justifications that lead us into war, which is a very profitable business for some.
Within all this, I eventually accepted the justifications myself, that apparently we have enemies and thus must fight them and we’re ‘protecting’ ourselves. I was so sold on the idea that apparently there were these vicious enemies out there who were big and posed some sort of real threat to us and so we just had to protect ourselves. Yet, I had no idea actually how bid any of these countries were, or how developed they are, and probably most importantly why do they apparently want to attack us? I mean, for me to want to attack someone, it took a reason. I had to believe that they were a threat to me or harmed me in some way. So, wouldn’t that hold true for the supposed ‘enemies’ as well? I mean, I knew they are people, human beings, just like me. Same bodies with superficial differences, and you’ve got moms and dads and children, etc. They all need the same things as me like food, water, shelter, education. Sure we have some cultural differences, though those are usually blown out of proportion by the media, in order to highlight our apparent differences, to feed the idea and misperception that there could be human beings out there that are ‘just different’ and just want to harm us for no good reason, and so we won’t ever realize that nobody just wants to hurt others, and we’ll never investigate or question to get to the bottom of what is really going on, as such behavior is always the symptom of something out of ordinary going on.

Day 208: Self Forgiveness for Making Enemies
http://humanitysjourneytolife.blogspot. ... aking.html
Here I am continuing from the previous post, here. I'll now walk the Self Forgiveness for how I'd accepted the justifications for war and separation from other human beings. For context, here is where I left off in the last post discussing this point:
Within all this, I eventually accepted the justifications myself, that apparently we have enemies and thus must fight them and we’re ‘protecting’ ourselves. I was so sold on the idea that apparently there were these vicious enemies out there who were big and posed some sort of real threat to us and so we just had to protect ourselves. Yet, I had no idea actually how big any of these countries were, or how developed they are, and probably most importantly why do they apparently want to attack us?
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to accept any justification for having enemies, and having to 'fight our enemies' when in fact this has never been a solution but has only kept us locked in relationships of being 'enemies' toward others and fighting each other with no end in sight.
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not question why we would have enemies, and therefore to not ever investigate the situation to get the full story of what was going on, in order to understand the situation to be able to find actual solutions.
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to accept the idea/perception of having 'enemies' because it was presented to me as being 'fact' and 'the way things are' and presented with all sorts of justifications that if I had but questioned I may have realized that the relationship of 'being enemies' does not just happen or exist within itself but is the result of specific reasons and causes namely our own behavior toward one another, which if we changed would then stop creating ourselves as enemies.
I forgive myself that I haven't accepted and allowed myself to realize that if we stop living the relationships of separation we have formed toward others, that no such separation would exist, and no one would be enemies but we would all get along and coexist and work together and for once be able to explore our true potential as humanity.
I forgive myself that I haven't accepted and allowed myself to realize that most, if not all, of our problems are the result of us living in separation toward one another, and that this would imply that we are the very solution we have been waiting for, right under our noses this whole time, since we are the cause of the problem.
I forgive myself that I haven't accepted and allowed myself to realize that any point within myself where I am living in separation of another being is the same point which is responsible for all the wars and atrocities that exist that we allow to happen to one another and that we act out on one another.
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe that holding onto the points of separation I exist as toward others is in some way serving me, when it is in fact doing the opposite, by keeping myself, my relationships and this whole world in a state of perpetual fighting and conflict, where we can never get to know what it would be like to really live and express ourselves here, instead of being caught up in endless conflict.
When and as I see myself participating in conflict and separation within myself toward another/others, I stop and breathe, remind myself that no one is actually my enemy, and reassess the situation within the consideration of all involved equally as myself.
I realize that I am responsible for the war and conflict in the world if I allow conflict to exist in me toward others and that when I take the approach of needing to defend or protect myself from another where I am only considering what is best for me that I am immediately placing myself in a position of opposition toward them, and actually placing the other in a position of having to defend themselves against me as well, since I am only considering my own interest, and thus by such behavior we drive each other apart and into conflict.
I realize that as long as I am stuck in a position of conflict toward another, that I actually prevent myself from seeing any effective solution, because that requires to be considering all points equally, otherwise it will simply lead to more conflict.
I commit myself to identifying and clearing up any points of separation within myself so that I can see the solutions that would be lasting and which would prevent and thus end conflict.

Re: Kelly's Blogs
Day 209: Why Can't We See Ourselves?
http://humanitysjourneytolife.blogspot. ... elves.html
Throughout our lives, we never really learn to investigate ourselves, in fact, just the opposite – we learn to practically completely separate ourselves from who and what we really are. What do I mean by that? Well, we tend to form an idea about ourselves, the kind of person we are, that is based on ideas and thoughts in our mind. We have a certain perception of ourselves, that others will not always have of us. This is how we can end up being or feeling like we're 'misunderstood'. Like, 'they just don't get me', 'nobody gets me'. And that's because we have a separate version of ourselves in our mind. In our mind, exist all the justifications for why/who/how we are, all the dreams of what we 'wish we could be', all the imaginations of 'who we would be' if things had gone differently, all our self definitions of 'who I am' in relation to this or that - “I'm miserable when it rains' or 'I like this kind of music and hate that one', who I can/can't be around certain people or in certain situations. It is a whole lot of information we contain within ourselves, that isn't actually 'out here' in reality, where everyone else can see it. So, we can have a very different view of ourselves than others might have.
We never learn to investigate ourselves – this is leading to how others serve as mirrors to assist us to see ourselves as we really are, because we have been so geared to miss that, that this actually probably won't even make sense to you, until you actually witness it for yourself, which requires self investigation. You've got to really look at who you think you are, and who you are in reality – what values are you living out toward others that you wouldn't, for example excuse others form acting that way toward you, but that you've apparently justified it in your mind why in some situation/scenario you would act that way to another and so you don't even see when you are doing the same thing.
So, this is how it is that we can actually be completely oblivious to who we really are. I'm sure, we've all had those moments where we notice what someone else is doing, and we have the thought ' how can they not even see what they are doing right now??' or 'don't they even realize what they're doing??'. Like if someone makes a comment toward you and makes a certain face and you take it as they are being nasty toward you, and you are thinking 'how do they not see how nasty they are being right now?'
You see, it's easy to see it in someone else, because you're not in their mind, having the same experience as them, having had the same life as them, and everything that goes along with that which has led up to this moment where they are acting in that certain way. Now, it's quite different when you are the one acting, because you do have all your thought patterns and established patterns of behavior that you've developed over the years of your life that determine how you'll react in a certain way toward something, and so in that moment it is just going to 'make sense' why you are reacting how you are and you won't even question it. And so, that's why the other person apparently isn't noticing their own behavior either.
This is largely because as children, we're actually trained to act and behave in certain ways, you know, to 'do as your told', so we don't develop an understanding of ourselves and behavior in any way, we simply learn 'don't do this' and 'do that'. Thus, we basically learn to act in ways that will hopefully avoid a negative response, and that's about the extent of what we learn about behavior. We view our actions in terms of trying to avoid certain consequences. So our behavior becomes all about outward appearances essentially, where we're geared toward presenting ourselves to others in certain ways, and there is no focus on who we really are within ourselves, and what the starting point is behind our behaviors and actions.
It is important that we get to understand this point, so that we can start to develop a self awareness and get to understand ourselves, because the way we are living currently for the most part is very consequential, in all aspects of our lives, as we can see that the world is busy falling apart due to our negligence.
Luckily, we can utilize the function of how it is seemingly so easy to see what another is doing, to unlock the secrets to our own behavior, which is quite a fascinating, illuminating, and ultimately self-empowering process, and I will continue with that in the next post.

Day 210: Can We See Truth of Ourselves in Others?
http://humanitysjourneytolife.blogspot. ... elves.html
Now continuing from the previous post, where I left off saying that there is a way in which we can develop the ability to be able to see ourselves as who/what we really are, using our ability to see things in others.
Now, obviously the first step is the decision to want to see yourself as who you are, which comes from the realization that thinking and believing you are one way, while living another way in actuality, leads to unfortunate consequences in your world and relationships. Really, it shouldn't sit right with you that you've got one version of yourself that you see in your mind while there is the real version of you walking around in reality, interacting with your world/others, and you don't even have a clue of the consequence you are creating, because you can't even see what you're really doing, what effect you're having on your world and those around you, what the truth behind your actions is, and most importantly, the example that you're living for others to see.
I mean, this didn't sit right with me to be stuck in a delusion of who I am when the truth of me is here always, and the only way you can seem to avoid it, is by lying to yourself and coming up with all sorts of excuses and justifications of why you're apparently excused from the expectations you would hold others to, why you're apparently allowed to do and say things that you don't find acceptable for others to do.
So since we are blinded by our own excuses and justifications, our own behaviors have become so accepted to a point that we don't see clearly and directly who and what we're being, and therefore, why the fact that we can at least see these things in others, becomes so important and ultimately useful. Because, we can use what we see in others, to get to see things in ourself. How does that work?
Since we can see another's behavior without all the justifications and excuses, we can see it for what it is and the consequence it creates. This can help us to identify certain behaviors, so that we can then look for that behavior in ourself, and then even identify the excuses and justifications we used/use in order to justify/give permission to ourself to participate in the behavior.
This like any skill one is developing will not be so easy at first but would get easier with time and application as you develop the ability to see various points within yourself, and then it actually becomes quite a fun and fascinating journey of developing self awareness, and 'unlocking the puzzle' in a way, of what we have become, as this riddle of self justifications and beliefs in contradiction to reality. It becomes quite fun to when you identify a point within another, to then investigate to find out where/how the same point exists in you.
So a practical example of this would be for example where you see someone who is distracted in a moment and therefore not being very considerate of what they are doing or where they are going, and then trip right into some object that they hadn't noticed was in their path, or maybe they even ran into you because they weren't looking where they were going, and you think or say something like 'why don't they watch where they are going??'. So the point here to investigate within oneself would be where are you in moments distracted and not aware of everything in your environment and you create some sort of consequence from not being aware and paying attention?
So what is the point of doing this? What do we do with this information? Once I have identified a point within another, and then found it also within myself in some aspect/area of my living? That we will get into in the next post, where we'll look at how this tool of seeing ourselves in others, is one of the most effective tools in the process of Self Change, which can be one of the most difficult things to do, and how this is of the utmost benefit to oneself. How the key to our true potential has been here all along, we just haven't been able to see it yet because we haven't been able to see ourselves.

Day 211: Why Would We Want to Learn From each Other?
http://humanitysjourneytolife.blogspot. ... -from.html
Now we're going to continue from the previous post, with looking at why it is that we would want to utilize the tool of 'seeing ourselves in others', why is this such an important tool and what do we do with points once we've found them in ourselves?
If you haven't yet read the previous posts on this topic, I would suggest to do so first for context:
Day 210: Can We See Truth of Ourselves in Others?
Day 209: Why Can't We See Ourselves?
So, here I'm going to get into first the 'why' this tool is so important, and why we would want to totally take advantage of it, because it is in fact a major key to Self Change, something that is so often seen as practically impossible to do. This perception is largely a result of that fact that we have such difficulty in really seeing ourselves, in the first place. Because how can you change that which you don't understand how it works? You really can't. You would even believe that it's impossible, because there just doesn't seem to be any way to change what is largely a mystery. I mean, for the most part, we really have no clue why we do what we do or think what we think, we're just acting out of habit.
Therefore, we have to get to understand ourselves and see ourselves in Self Honesty – that means, who we really are in each and every moment, who am I and what am I living? What is my actual nature? How long would it take for us to really see ourselves if we were alone? If we didn't have 'everyone else' around us to serve as mirrors to who we really are?
I mean, that is really what we should have been doing all along, is learning from each other. Learning what our impact is on others. Learning what appropriate behavior is toward each other and toward ourselves. Utilizing the examples we're living for each other to see the consequences of certain behaviors, actions and choices, to learn what works and what doesn't. What's cool and what's not in terms of living here in this physical reality and coexisting with each other, and all other life here.
Since we're all existing in separate physical forms, how would you know the consequence of your actions without having other beings to interact with to see the consequences of another's actions on you, so that you could learn first hand. So here we are on Earth to learn about consequence and how to live. After all this time being here, it's probably about time we started actually doing that, because, strangely we have been doing anything but.
We've become beings of blame who avoid responsibility in practically every way possible, that it's manifested into our world systems at large as well. For example, if you look at what government is functioning as, it's like we as a whole have tried to put all responsibility on the government to solve problems and made decisions, instead of what the government would be if we were all responsible beings, which would be serving to simply administrate the laws and functions we've decided on, not actually creating policies and changing laws, where essentially the government has been given the power to make decisions instead of all the people together.
We've become beings whose nature is so consequential that we can barely have lasting effective relationships and we become further and further more isolated from each other. Every possible malady we could have is ever increasing, from psychological disorders to diseases, and our participation in the world and community is often nil. We try to live our lives according to the system that is already laid out whether it's really working for us or not, and as a result most of us have to live difficult lives working most of the time to make ends meet.
So, obviously we've got a lot to change in ourselves, to change our nature and stop creating such consequences for ourselves, so we can sort out this reality and our living here and actually have an enjoyable living. We have everything we physically need to do so, so it's only now ourselves that's getting in the way.
And who we are affects us not only on a global/world scale, but on a very direct personal level, within our relationships and our day to day living. For most of us our lives and our relationships are not what we'd like them to be, for one reason or another, or many. So often we are so busy blaming others and everyone else for our experiences, we tend to neglect ever looking at ourself to find our responsibility and thus our power to change ourself, and from there change our world. Thus when we finally have a tool with which to begin to investigate ourselves, we open ourselves up to whole new possibilities to change our lives and living to what we would actually like. Because in getting to know ourselves, we unravel the mystery to how we create consequence in our lives and world, and through understanding, we gain the power to change ourselves, and thus change our lives.

Day 212: The Living Income Guaranteed Would Increase Minimum Wage for All Workers
http://humanitysjourneytolife.blogspot. ... would.html
So there is quite some movement lately going on in the U.S. in regards to raising the minimum wage to a 'living wage'. Thousands of low-paid fast food and retail workers have been walking out of their jobs calling for an increase to the minimum wage.
In this video from RT "Fast Food Fight: Thousands of low-paid workers take to US streets", a sign is held up which reads: “Worker's Rights are Human Rights” - and that's a very good point. Because the right to a decent living should be a guarantee for all human beings. It's basic human rights to have your needs met. It is not something that is just about or for 'workers' but for all human beings.
It really doesn't make sense to work away most of your life and yet not even make enough to have a decent living, or to have time to enjoy it.
On top of that, in this day and age with the technology we have, it doesn't require as much labor as we're putting in, to cover everyone's needs. Because, have a look, most of the labor we do, most of the jobs that are existing, aren't even related to needs. A vast majority of jobs are service jobs, which is essentially getting someone else to do something for you. Like cook a meal, or clean your house, or help you pick out a new outfit.
Here is a chart from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics showing annual labor force statistics around the world from 1970-2012, where you can see that the service industry ( the dark pink) has always been the largest type of employment and has been steadily increasing, compared to industry (light blue) and agriculture (dark blue).
With the technology we have, much of human labor that is done in manufacturing isn't necessary to be done by human labor, it just is because it's cheaper for companies than investing in expensive machinery, and people are desperate to be employed to make what money they can to try to survive and eke out an existence.
I suggest to watch the documentary “Will Work for Free” as it shows quite clearly the potential of what we're facing in terms of technology replacing human labor, which shouldn't actually be a problem, but should be something we utilize to make life easier and more enjoyable for all of us here. But we've got to first sort out the point of support for all beings regardless of whether you're employed or how much you're employed. There needs to be a minimum level of support that is equal to a decent living otherwise we have problems, such as massive poverty and suffering, like we already have because of this very point. You need a job to survive, and there simply aren't enough for everyone, nor do the vast majority of the jobs that do exist, pay enough to actually live effectively.
The Living Income Guaranteed is the solution to this, as it provides that basic support for all individuals no matter what, and calls for a minimum wage for those who work that is double the amount of the basic Living Income. So that no matter what situation you are in, employed, unemployed or underemployed, you would have support for all your basic needs. And if you work, you would receive at least double that, so that you can afford some luxury in your life, as proper compensation for your time and labor. Because it does not make mathematical sense to be working day in and day out, and still be living in poverty, while your labor provides massive profits going somewhere else.
We need this kind of solution and sooner than later, because this is becoming a bigger and bigger issue that is going to more and more pressure on individuals and businesses, which can be avoided by working out this solution for support together and make as smooth transition as possible, into a country where life is actually valued and not taken advantage of for the sake of profits. Change isn't going to come by putting pressure on businesses, since they go by what the laws dictate, and that's why we have to take political action, not rebellious action, if we want to see real results. Let your politicians know that you support a Living Income.
