There has recently been an increase in political participation by people in several countries through petitions and referendums. The most discussed one is of course the Greek referendum on whether the Greek citizens would accept further austerity measures from their 'creditors'.
But there is also:
* The example of Austrians gathering sufficient signatures to place exiting the EU on the political agenda: http://www.globalresearch.ca/austrians- ... on/5460701
* In the Netherlands enough signatures were gathered in a span of 28 hours to discuss changing the way money is created in parliament: http://positivemoney.org/2015/01/dutch- ... -creation/
* A petition was launched in the U.K., inspired by Greece, to call for a referendum to vote on further austerity: http://www.globalresearch.ca/inspired-b ... um/5461263
So - it would be cool if we all support this trend as it is showing a change in people's perceptions around politics in that more and more there are examples showing of initiatives being brought to the 'leaders' of a country and a demand of the people to have a say in decision making.
