Re: Difference Between Character, Habit and Personality?

Post by Leila »

When choosing my wordings in my own writing, 'Character', 'Personality' and 'Habit' represent different scopes. Where You can have a character that can contain multiple personalities, and each personality having different habits. So you have your Character which is big in scope and has multiple dimensions -- wherein Personality is one of those and still has multiple dimensions of its own and wherein a 'Habit' is again an aspect/dimension of a personality.

So it really depends on whether you are looking at a "big construct" inside yourself that you are addressing, or whether you are looking at a singular point (or something in between). As the Postponement Character you for instance also exist as the memories of previous postponements, memories that led you to posteponement, backchats, emotions, personalities etc that 'back up' you acting out in Posteponement, that keep you acting out in Posteponement 'in place' -- so you're then dealing with a whole network / the multi-dimensions of a point -- wheras if you are looking at the very action, in a singular moment where you decide to postpone - you are looking at 'your habit' as the singular action/pattern that you keep playing out.

So as a rough guideline: Character > Personality > Habit

If you want to get into the specifics, you can read the blogs on Heaven's Journey to Life that were written around the time that the Character-point opened up.

Perhaps the habbit is the action being acted out. The personality around the action could be the emotions and feeling that come before the habit itself. And the charectar is what developes once all.is said and done. So maybe: inorder to build certian charteristics we have to first break down the charecter whixh consist of a mind consiousness system that forms habbit.

Yeah, Luc. What I have been seeing is that a character is what we act out or show others in response to a situation. So, we have these separate characters for different experiences - all with their own memories, reactions (emotions and feelings), beliefs, and ways of physically expressing. Patterns are created by doing the same thing over and over again until it becomes us and automatic - patterns are predictable. A character can be a part of a pattern where we know that a certain character will be triggered by an event in our physical environment. We also see that characters have patterned ways of dealing with and responding to an event with thoughts, feelings/emotions, judgments, beliefs/ideas/justifications, and physical actions. The more you go into character, the more automatic it becomes. The same goes for acting out a character, the more you do it, the easier it becomes, you don't question it, and accept that it is who you are.

Cool carrie. I am interested, A character reacts through emotions, feelings, beliefs, ideas ect. Like when a destonian charaterizes themself within common sense and applying it through habbit. Like writing has totally developed into a habit for me. Personality are certianly pertictable, like a liberal or conservitive, when new laws and certian politics are put in place the reactions of both sides can be pre-ditermined. Pretty cool stuff, thanks for shareing

Yes, exactly. We have the ability to completely change our character to become a being that cares and supports life equally. The cool thing about this process that we're walking with Desteni is that we are recreating ourselves as a point of stability - so, our characters aren't going into beliefs, judgments, and/or reactions and instead responding with clarity and understanding. Does that make sense?

Yeah absolutly, instead of reactions based in past experiance a destonian character is able to apply common sense because instead of the mind as reactions, feelings, emotions, idea, beliefs ect we can stop, apply breath, and move within common sense. 1+1=2 anything outside of that is knowledge and information which can be smashed by common sense like a glass bottle wipped at a brick wall. The wall being common sense. Thanks for careing by shareing carrie.
