Blog automatically underlining words

Blog automatically underlining words

Postby christine » 30 Jul 2012, 22:58

Hi Everyone -

Just recently, when I publish my blog, there will be two or three words that are underlined and highlighted, that I did not do, and the words that are underlined/highlighted are not words I would choose to highlight/underline anyway.

Why would this be happening after I've already written so many blogs with this never occurring before, why now?

Hi Christine - I went to your blog and didn't see any underlined words, though, I may not be clear on your meaning. I know that when one attaches a link to a word (hyperlink) then it will appear underlined but it doesn't look as if you're doing that yet. If you figure it out let us know.

Hi Cathy -

I just checked and - whole life - and - bathroom - are underlined and highlighted.

Not my blog as it appears on the forum, but on my blog page.

This is really weird, in my last reply I did not highlight and underline those words....How did that happen?

Hi Christine. I don't see any highlights or underlines on your blog either. And yes, it is usually a hyperlink, but those does not appear by themselves, unless you copy/paste a piece of text where there was already a hyperlink in one of the words.

I think you have an add-on/plugin installed in your browser that turns some words into hyperlinks 'locally'. Meaning that they are not for all people turned into hyper links. If you click on it, where does it take you? Properly a dictionary-page or something like advertisement.

Hi Reginald -

Yes you are right, I just clicked on one of the words and it took me to an ad - and the next time I clicked on it - dangerous page - came up -

Ever since I added the EMS badge to my picture, my computer has been a little weird, so I think when I did that I must have inadvertently clicked some add on something.

So, how do I get rid of it?

Thanks
Christine

Well I just figured it out myself, I went into uninstall program and I saw some recent programs that attached themselves to my computer, clicked uninstall and the highlights and underlines disappeared!

Hi Christine,

the EMS badge hasn't produced any of the things you've experienced 'since then' for me. I had given you the link of the badge that was 'produced' on my facebook timeline page automatically after I had pinned the badge onto my profile picture. It may have been 'infested' thus producing the phenomena you're witnessing. I'm sorry for this! I probably should have given you the original link, this is the one I had gone to instead of the one that appeared on my fb page. I had tried it out before sending it to you, though, and it was inconspicuous. Obviously not. I'll send if I can at least delete it from my page.

This is the only explanation I can think of - don't know so much about this kind of stuff.

Sorry for the inconveniences.

I was able to hide the 'recently added' notice with the link to the badge, so nobody will use and it and maybe have the same problems.
