Hi Julie - welcome to the forums. You got a great suggestion to come here to explore your relationship with alcohol. First and foremost though, it will come down to you and your willingness to change. That is always the starting point, the decision one has to make, to do what is necessary to be done to be better for themselves, and so for others.
So since this is your first post, again welcome. Check out the
forum guidelines to familiarize yourself with the forum, and what you have stumbled upon here. I will say the best support you will find, along with reading and sharing on the forums here, is
DIP Lite. It is a free course that introduces you into the basics of the principles and applications we walk here. You will learn about writing, self-forgiveness, slowing down, self-honesty, and practically speaking - how to actually live change.
This is not a quick fix solution - this is a decision and commitment one makes in their life and will take everything you have to walk. Though it is challenging, the reward is beyond what we've known, as it teaches us to open up to a potential existent within all that we've never tapped into before, yet has always been here... and in reality, is quite simplistically, a new way of living. Truly a breath of fresh air.
So check out the DIP lite course, and from there, open up a
'writing yourself to freedom', once you are comfortable with sharing, or if you would like any perspective on specific points you are facing.
Also - if you search on the forum for the word 'alcohol' or 'addiction' you will receive many articles and posts regarding this topic - as many have and are facing addictions, whether that be to alcohol, weed, porn, shopping, eating, etc. It's not 'what we use' - it's the relationship we have towards those particular things.
Read, ask questions, share, participate and be prepared to learn about who you've accepted yourself to be, and who you can actually become.
Enjoy!
